While vehicle emissions such as hydrocarbons (HCs) and nitrogen oxides (NOx) carry significant risks, work is being done through the development of new technologies and increasingly strict vehicle emissions regulations to reduce the harmful air pollution. A main focus\u00a0of current research is the development of NOx and HC traps that capture these emissions at low temperatures, associated with a cold start of engines.
